James Taylor

Bio:
James Taylor (born James Vernon Taylor on March 12, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American singer-songwriter. After beginning his career in the late 1960s, James really gained prominence for his second album, Sweet Baby James, which featured the hit song “Fire And Rain,” about his time in a psychiatric facility and suicide of his friend, in 1970. He followed it up with his first No. 1 track, “You’ve Got A Friend” in 1971. James’ career had several ups and downs, mostly due to his heroin addiction, which he finally kicked in the 1980s. He has released 17 studio albums, won five Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. He also received an Emmy Award in 2014 for The Mormon Tabernacle Choir Presents An Evening With James Taylor.

James is best known as a singer and songwriter, particularly for his hits “Fire and Rain” and “You’ve Got A Friend.”

Personal Life:
James married fellow singer-songwriter Carly Simon in 1972, and together they had two kids, Sarah “Sally” Maria Taylor and Benjamin “Ben” Simon Taylor. Sally gave birth to the pair’s grandson, Bodhi, in 2007. Sadly, James and Carly divorced in 1983, and in 2004, Carly said they no longer speak. In 1985, he married Kathryn Walker, but they eventually split and he married his third wife, Caroline “Kim” Smedvig in 2001.
