Jade Thirlwall (born Jade Amelia Thirlwall on December 26, 1992 in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England) is a British singer. From age 3 until 15, Jade attended Steps Dance & Fitness. At age 9, Jade joined Performer’s Stage School and at 13, she enrolled in St. Wilfrid’s Community College. She joined the choir at school, and at age 16, she started to perform in many pubs and clubs as a singer. Jade auditioned for The X Factor twice (in 2008 and 2010) but never progressed past the first stage. In 2011, she auditioned again, making it to the bootcamp stage. She failed to make it past that stage alone. She was paired with future Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock and another girl in the group Orion. While Orion didn’t find success, Jade joined Leigh-Anne, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson in forming Little Mix. The band would go on to win The X-Factor, the first girl group to do so.
