Though stars like Kendall Jenner, Cardi B, Keke Palmer, and Chrissy Teigen have access to glam squads and luxury skin products, they still battle the same skin issues as everyone else. They, and other celebrities have opened up about their struggles with acne on social media to shed the idea of “perfect” skin, and let their fans know that they’re not alone. Just take a look at their bare-faced photos:

Cardi opened up about her acne struggles in Jan. 2021, and even sought out skincare advice from her fans! “I been breaking out lately and my face is extremely dry.I don’t think these products are working.I think it’s the water out here …..What are some good products for little black heads break outs and dry skin on your face ?,” the “WAP” rapper tweeted.

In another tweet, she shared a photo of her cheek acne — see above — and wrote, “This is my cheek…It’s been happening for like 3 months now …Sh-t really is uncomfortable.” While Cardi turned down suggestions like retinol and facial oil, she eventually revealed that fellow celebrity Kehlani, 25, recommended “somebody” for her acne issues.
Supermodel Heidi Klum‘s mini-me daughter Leni Boshoven Samuel revealed she’s just like the rest of us when she opened up about her acne in a candid Instagram post. The model, 16, who made her debut on the cover of Vogue Germany with her mom, took to social media on January 8 to share a photo of her face without makeup. “my skin on a bad day,” she wrote, adding the hashtags “no filter” and “so what”. Leni also posted a short video to her IG Story, which showed acne on her cheeks and forehead. “Bad skin. This too shall pass,” she wrote on top of the clip. Many followers quickly jumped into the comments section of the snap to commend her for keeping it real. “yessir let’s normalize this,” one user said, while another wrote “So cool That you show some reality.”

Kendall was subjected to online scrutiny after she walked the red carpet at the 2018 Golden Globes with acne on her face. A few pimples didn’t stop the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star from turning the red carpet into her very own runway. Kendall didn’t let the hate cloud her judgement, though. In response to a commenter who praised her for her positive attitude about the online bullying, Kendall said, “never let that sh*t stop you.” Amen!
Keke opened up on Instagram about a private struggle she’s battled with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which has caused her to develop cystic acne. She shared several, makeup-free photos while telling fans about her experience. “The least harmful thing PCOS can bring is acne,” the Hustlers star wrote. “To all the people struggling with this please know you’re not alone and that you are still so f**king fine! MY ACNE AINT NEVER STOPPED ME. But we don’t have accept this. Now I can really help KEKE! And I love her so it’s ON.”

Chrissy, 35, is incredibly candid on social media. Anytime she’s having a skin problem, she’s down to share her struggle with fans. At one point, she even attempted to get Dr. Pimple Popper to work her magic. “This is a message for Dr. Pimple Popper,” Chrissy tweeted at Sandra Lee. “I have had this thing on my chin for maybe, like, four years now. It has no exit hole. I used to inject it with… cortisol? Cortisone? It gets bigger around my period. It’s unsqueezable, and it is ruining my life.”
Yes, even celeb men are willing to share their acne woes with their fans. Back in 2018, Justin Bieber jokingly showed off his forehead zits in a video posted to his Instagram Story. Ever the trendsetter, he declared that “pimples are in.” Fast forward two years, and Justin opened up about adult acne on The Biebers on Watch… and wife Hailey Baldwin popped his pimples on camera. Yep!
Gabrielle Union still struggles with acne from time to time, even at 48 years old. She’s posted glamorous photos online that also happen to show some acne, and haven’t made a big deal out of it. Gab revealed in a June 2019 interview with Byrdie that, along with clay masks and spot treatments, drinking water has helped her skin stay clear. “I do drink a gallon of water a day. I started that in my mid to late 30s,” she told the site. “So for a good 10 years, I’ve been drinking a gallon of water a day. It makes a difference for hair, skin, nails, all of it.”
Bella Thorne, 23, isn’t shy about… anything, really. The Babysitter actress once shared bare-faced pics on Instagram and sent her fans an important message about acceptance. “I’m very self conscious and constantly feeling bad about myself,” she confessed. “BUT I shouldn’t feel bad. It is normal to have acne. EVERY1 does! It’s only our society and social media outlets like this one that tells us we have to have ‘perfect skin’ to be considered socially acceptable. I’m here to tell you rn FUCK THAT. I’m going to show my skin for what is it and own it. No matter what any1 says.”
