Bio:
Preacher Lawson, 20 (born in Portland, Oregon) is a stand-up comedian and a finalist on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent. As a child, Preacher moved 20 times before the age of 10 and developed his comedic edge having to make new friends all the time. He started writing jokes when he was 16 and did his first stand-up performances as a bet with his mom. Preacher went on open for many well-known comedians and was named the Funniest Comedian in Florida in 2015. In Preacher’s AGT audition, he joked about motorcycles and his neighbor flipping her car over. Judge Simon Cowell asked him to tell one more joke, which he did, talking about his grandma’s terrible driving and how she “wasn’t afraid to die.” The judge’s gave Preacher four “yes’s” sending him through to the Judge Cuts. Preacher’s Judge Cuts performance consisted of jokes about being catfished by a girl who had a limp and his performance sent him through to the Quarterfinals. His Quarterfinal stand up was one of his best yet, telling jokes about being the world’s fastest clapper, struggling with big smart phones, and using a photo of himself as a screen saver. It was hysterical and the judges gave a standing ovation. Preacher received enough votes to go through the Semifinals, where he had everyone laughing again and used Tyra Banks as his subject. Joking that he had to “break up” with Tyra Banks because he didn’t want their kids to have a big forehead and big lips, Preacher won the crowd over and was voted forth to the finals!
