Before moving into a career in the entertainment industry, Nate was an accomplished athlete, who attended Penn State University on a wrestling scholarship. Nate transitioned into a career in acting in the early 2000s, when a talent agent noticed him at an event and told him to move to LA to start auditioning. He made his directorial debut in 2016 with Birth of a Nation, in which he also stars as Nat Turner.
