Monica Spear (born Mónica Spear Mootz in Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela on October 1, 1984) won Miss Venezuela in 2004, and represented the county at 2005’s Miss Universe pageant, coming in fourth. Afterward, she began acting in soap operas in Venezuela. Sadly, in January 2013 she was shot dead in Venezuela.

Monica Spear is the cousin of Venezuelan model Jossie Nikita Marques Spear. Monica married Thomas Henry Berry, and together they had a daughter. In 2013, they split but stayed friendly. In January 2014, they were both show in front of their daughter, who was five at the time. Seven people have been arrested and are being investigated.

So sad. Friends, family and fans gathered to say their final goodbyes to former Miss Venezuela Monica Spear during an emotional service on Jan. 10. The funeral for Monica and ex-husband Thomas Henry Berry took place in Caracas, Venezuela, just days after they were shot and killed in a roadside attack outside the capital city.
Countless people flocked to Caracas to mourn the loss of beauty queen and telenovela star Monica Spear and her ex-husband, Thomas Henry Berry. The pair’s 5-year-old daughter, Maya, who survived the attack with a gunshot wound to the leg, learned on Jan. 9 that both of her parents were killed during a suspected highway robbery in Venezuela on Jan. 6. The little girl was supposed to attend the somber ceremony, but it’s unclear at this time if she was there.

A former Miss Venezuela and her ex-husband were shot to death in front of their five year old daughter on Jan. 6. Now her family is speaking out, saying they pleaded with her to leave her scary and dangerous home country before her tragic death.
Monica Spear, 29, was shot to death while on vacation with her ex-husband, Thomas Henry Berry, 39, and their daughter Maya. Monica’s brother, Ricardo Spear Mootz, says the family wanted Monica to stay out of the country, which already has a reported 70 murders in the first week of 2104. “She loved her country too much,” he said.

Monica and her ex-husband were vacationing in her native Venezuela before they were brutally murdered near the town of Puerto Cabello. In the days leading up to her tragic death, she posted several photos and this final Instagram video that is so beautiful but in hindsight, is incredibly sad.
Monica Spear, 29, was enjoying a loving family vacation with her ex-husband Thomas Henry Berry, 39, before the pair were killed in front of their five-year-old daughter Maya. Miss Venezuela 2004 was posting amazing photos and videos from her trip and it’s so sad that her life was cut short in such a horrible way.
