Michelle Carter (born in 1997 in Plainville, Massachusetts) is an American who was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the 2014 death of her boyfriend, 18-year-old Conrad Roy III. Michelle was found guilty for his death on July 16, after the jury was presented with text messages she sent to Conrad, pushing him to commit suicide. Writing things such as, “Don’t be scared. You already made this decision and if you don’t do it tonight you’re gonna be thinking about it all the time and stuff all the rest of your life and be miserable,” and “The time is right and you’re ready, you just need to do it!” She can face up to 20 years in jail. Her sentencing will be on Aug. 3, 2017.
