Method Man (born Clifford Smith on March 2, 1971 in Hempstead, New York) is an American rapper, record producer and actor. He chose his stage name from the 1979 film Method Man. He was a member of the East Coast hip hop collective, Wu-Tang Clan, and a member of Method Man & Redman. In 1996, Method Man won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need to Get By” with Mary J. Blige. He has also appeared in films Belly, How High, Garden State, and The Cobbler. He has recurring roles on HBO’s Oz and The Wire.

Personal Life:
Method Man divided his childhood between his father’s house in Long Island and his mother’s house in Staten Island. He was engaged to his wife, Tamika Smith, in 1999 and they married in 2001. He has three children: two sons and one daughter. In 2007, Method Man was arrested in NYC on marijuana charges. In July 2016, Method Man announced he was quitting social media after photos of his wife surfaced and he was getting trolled by followers.
