Mathew Knowles (born January 9, 1952 in Gadsden, Alabama) is an American talent manager and businessman. Mathew grew up in the south, graduating from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1974 with Bachelor degrees in Economics and Business Administration. In 1976, he moved to Houston, Texas, working for the Xerox Corporation for 10 years, primarily in the medical-systems sales division. In 1992, Mathew left his sales career behind to dedicate all his time to his music company, Music World Entertainment. One of his companyâs star acts was Destiny Child, featuring Mathewâs daughter, Beyonce Knowles. Destinyâs Child became one of the biggest acts in the world, wining many awards and selling millions of albums. The group formally disbanded in 2006, with Mathew managing the careers of Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. In addition to Music World Entertainment, Mathew founded Spirit Rising Music (which became Music World Gospel) which featured gospel acts like Vanessa Bell Armstrong and LâAndria Johnson. In 2016, Mathew acquired the catalog of country music label, Compadre, which includes records from Johnny Cash, Billy Joe Shaver and more. In 2009, he was the executive producer of the 2009 movie, Obsessed, which stars Beyonce. In 2015, he released his first book, The DNA of Achievers: 10 Traits of Highly Successful Professionals.
