Karolina Pliskova (born in Louny, Czech Republic on March, 21, 1992) is a Czech tennis player. Her athletic career took off in 2012 when she played her first large-scale tennis tournament at the Grand Slam during the French Open. She’s been competing in events like the WTA, the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the Tournament Of Champions ever since. She reached her career pinnacle on Sept. 8, 2016 when she beat top ranked Serena Williams to advance to the finals of the U.S. Open, her first ever appearance in a Grand Slam Final.
Best Known For:
Karolina is best known for beating Serena Williams in the semi-finals at the 2016 US Open tennis tournament. She also played in the Fed Cup on the Czech Republic’s national team.
Personal Life:
Karolina has an identical twin sister, named Kristyna. The twins both live and train in Monte Carlo, Monaco along with their coach, Jiri Vanek. Krystina is also a phenomenal tennis player, as she went on to win the junior Wimbledon in 2012. Karolina and Kristýna became the first twin sisters to win a doubles title in WTA history back in 2013.
