Enrique Peña Nieto (born in Atlacomulco, Mexico on July 20, 1966) is the 57th president of Mexico. On Dec. 1, 2012, he began his 6-year term as president after running in the Institutional Revolutionary Party. Before that, he was governor of the state of Mexico for 6 years, 2005-2011. His election marked a return of the IRP to power after being absent for 12 years. His main campaign focus was running a more democratic, modern and open to criticism government. Enrique has had several media gaffes and has been involved in three scandals involving real estate and one involving illegal trusts revealed in the Panama Papers. On Aug. 31 he met with Donald Trump after Donald made many terrible comments about Mexican people.

Enrique Peña Nieto was born in a city 55 miles Northwest of Mexico City to an electrical engineer and a school teacher. He was the oldest of four kids. Two of his uncles were governors of the state of Mexico, and he would later go onto follow in their footsteps. When he got older, he went to campaign rallies with his dad. Enrique has been married twice. His first wife Mónica Pretelini died on 11 January 2007 as the result of an epileptic episode, but before that they had three kids together named Paulina, Alejandro and Nicole. Shockingly, he had a fourth child with Maritza Díaz Hernández while married to Monica, and does not talk to that son. His second wife was soap opera star Angélica Rivera, they wed in 2011 after a long secret love affair.
