Bio:
Axl Rose (Born William Bruce Rose Jr. February 6, 1962 in Lafayette, IN) is the lead singer of the legendary L.A. rock band Guns N’ Roses. After growing up in Indiana, William, who took on the name stage name Axl Rose, moved to Los Angeles in 1982 to seek a career on the blazing rock scene there. In 1985, the singer co-founded Guns N’ Roses with guitarist Slash, and built up a huge following in the L.A. club scene. Their first album, 1987’s Appetite for Destruction has to date sold in excess of 30 million copies worldwide and spawned such hits as “Sweet Child ‘O Mine” and “Welcome To The Jungle.” They followed up their initial success with the twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II which were released together in 1991. After several years of hectic touring with some crazy and controversial incidents, the band took a break to deal with internal issues among its members, with Slash quitting the band in 1996 and while Axl made slight attempts to put the band back together again, he became a recluse and shied away from the public by the late 1990’s. GNR was inducted into the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, their first year of eligibility but Axl did not attend the ceremony citing he was still on bad terms with several band mates. In 2016, it was announced that Axl and Slash would return for “reunion” headlining shows at the April Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA
