‘The Voice’ Top 5 Reveal Their Plans For New Music & More After Season 18 Finale
Ahead of the season 18 finale of 'The Voice,' we caught up with the top five artists EXCLUSIVELY for scoop on their plans for after the show and much more.
Going into the May 18 finale of The Voice, five artists are left vying to win the show: CammWess, Thunderstorm Artis, Micah Iverson, Todd Tilghman, and Toneisha Harris. They’ll each sing twice during the finale, and America will vote for their favorite, with the winner being revealed live on May 19. However, regardless of the outcome, the five finalists are all already looking forward to continuing their music careers when the show is over, and they plan to do so even amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
“We want to keep the momentum we are gaining because of the show and we want to make sure we stay connected [with our fans],” Toneisha explained to HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “We want them to know we love them and we thank them for their support, and we are going to still offer great music, even if it is from the comfort of our own homes for now.” Todd added that he plans on doing “live stream type” events to continue connecting with his loyal followers, while also continuing to build relationships with people who he met on the show.
For Thunderstorm, being able to perform virtually on The Voice has inspired him to continue the creativity at home in the weeks to come. “I’m excited to kind of get into making my own sets and doing some cool videos,” he revealed. “But [I’m] also praying that this virus gets out of the way and we can be personable and play some shows and connect with people [in person].” Micah agreed that touring is what he’s most excited for when this is all over.
All five of the singers also already have an idea of what they want their original music to sound like when they get working on it post-show. “It’s really important to me to tell stories about the people in your life and the passing of time, and how you fight,” Todd explained. “[As well as] the struggle that everyone is in and how you get through that, and sometimes it’s not easy but you will make it. That’s the overall story I want to tell or message I want to send.”
Micha also said he plans to have an “overarching theme” when it comes to his music. “[Mine] would probably be a sad album,” he admitted. “I love sad music, but I think there’s a lot of beauty in sadness and it helps you understand what to be grateful for.” CamWess added, “Whether the theme is sadness or joy or uplifting, I want to make sure that I am telling who I am at that moment. These fans really get into who we are, even beyond the music. I want my album to be a statement as to who I am.”
For Toneisha and Thunderstorm, the importance lies in making sure people are able to connect with what they’re saying. “My hope is that I would convey hope in the entire message of my record or song,” Toneisha explained. “And that people would feel hope when they hear it.” Thunderstorm added, “I want people to listen to my music and really feel something and be changed afterward. That is something amazing that music can do.”
Each artist will perform one cover song and one original song during the finale on May 18, and the contestants teased that it’s going to be quite a show. “Just look forward to the best performances you have ever heard!” Thunderstorm hinted. The Voice finale airs at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
