Anybody who watched the 2009 VMAs cannot forget the stunned expression on a then 19-year-old Taylor Swift’s face as Yeezy grabbed the mic from her hand and claimed Beyonce deserved the Female Video of the Year award over her. But, now that six years have gone by, Tay has not only forgiven Kanye, but the two stars are actually pals — so who better than the 25-year-old to award her former nemesis with the biggest honor of the night at this year’s show?!

From the moment it was announced that Kim’s hubby would be given the Vanguard award, fans voiced their support for the possibility that Taylor would be the one to do the introductions, and their wish has been granted. The blonde beauty, who had a huge night at the VMAs, herself, took the stage to praise Yeezus in a gushing speech before presenting him with the trophy.
“I first met Kanye West six years ago at this show, actually! Since then, we’ve had a lot of time to talk about a lot of different things,” Taylor said. “It seemed like everyone in the world knew about our infamous encounter at the VMAs, but something that you may not know is that Kanye West’s album, College Dropout, was the very first album my brother and I bought on iTunes when I was 12 years old. Many of you may not remember that Kanye wrote and recorded his first single with his jaw wired shut after a car accident. Or how he spent years studying the craft and the art of fashion and even learned to sew before launching his very own line, which has been wildly successful. I have been a fan of his since I can remember because Kanye defines what it is to be a creative force in music, fashion and, well, life. So I guess I have to say to all the other winners tonight: I’m really happy for you, and I’mma let you finish, but Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time! I am honored to present the 2015 Vanguard Award to Kanye West!”
Kanye went on one of his notorious rants after accepting the award from Taylor, and totally confused EVERYONE — including Taylor and Kim! The ladies watched on from the front row, and although they were clapping and smiling in the beginning, the cameras caught them with completely perplexed expressions as the speech continued. Looks like Kanye can even shock his WIFE!
