“Rowdy” Roddy Piper

Bio:
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper (born Roderick George Toombs in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on April 17, 1954) was a Canadian professional wrestler, an actor and podcast host. Roddy was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba by both of his parents. When he was expelled from junior high school, the wrestler had a falling out with his father, and decided to hit the road, picking up local odd jobs wherever he could find them. At the age of 15, Roddy made his pro wrestling debut in Winnipeg against Larry Henning. That very match was when Roddy earned his nickname as Roddy Piper, due to the bagpipe music and the ring-announcer’s introduction as “Roddy the Piper.” Fans misheard the intro and the nickname “Roddy Piper” stuck. The wrestler spent several years in pro wrestling before he decided to start acting. It wasn’t until February 21, 2005, the wrestler was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Sadly on July 30, 2015, Roddy passed away from cardiac arrest in his sleep.

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper is best known for his work with WWE. Even though the wrestler was Canadian, he was known for his Scottish heritage and often seen wearing a kilt with bagpipe entrance music whenever he would step into the ring.

Personal Life:
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper was married to his wife Kitty Toombs and they had four children together. Three daughters, Anastacia Shea, Ariel Teal, Falon Danika, and one son, Colton Baird. Unlike many professional wrestlers, Roddy kept his wedding ring on during matches.
