Dockworkers made headlines by going on strike, which projected delays in package deliveries. See pictures of the protest here.
On October 1, 2024, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) initiated a strike, aiming for higher wages and a ban on automated equipment. The protest, coinciding with the approach of the holiday season, projected delayed deliveries for American consumers. Two days later, on October 3, the ILA and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. announced they had reached a “tentative” agreement.
