From her college days at St Andrews to her role as the Princess of Wales, see Kate Middleton’s journey in photos through the years.
Kate Middleton is beloved by Britain as the Princess Of Wales. But unlike her hubby Prince William, she wasn’t always destined to be royalty. Kate, born January 9, 1982, first charmed the Prince when they met in 2001 while studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. They began their courtship around 2003, it wasn’t until Nov. 2010 that the couple was finally engaged. People around the world tuned in to watch their royal wedding when it happened in 2011. Since then, the couple has built a family together. They welcomed their first child, Prince George, in 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.
Kate has embraced her role as a working royal, balancing motherhood with her philanthropic work. She serves as patron to more than 20 charities and military organizations, including Action for Children, SportsAid, and the National Portrait Gallery, where she has championed mental health initiatives, children’s welfare, and the arts.
Alongside her charitable efforts, Kate has become a global fashion icon. Her polished yet approachable style has sparked countless trends, with designers like Emilia Wickstead and Alexander McQueen seeing their careers soar after she wore their designs. One standout moment came on May 4, 2016, when she stunned in an elegant white gown during an appearance at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
In March 2024, Kate revealed in an emotional video message that she had been diagnosed with cancer following abdominal surgery earlier that year. The Princess shared that she had begun preventative chemotherapy and thanked the public for their outpouring of support, noting that William and their children have been her greatest source of strength. She later confirmed in September 2024 that she had completed chemotherapy and was cancer-free, telling well-wishers she was relieved to move forward while focusing on her recovery and family. In January 2025, Kate shared that she was officially in remission, calling it a huge relief as she continued adjusting to life after treatment. In the months that followed, she slowly resumed public duties, including speaking engagements and charity visits, while acknowledging that healing remains an ongoing process.
