Rumors About a New Britney Album

It’s been years since Britney has put out a new album. There have been quite a few instances where rumors have cropped up about the “Toxic” singer releasing new music. Following her divorce from Sam Asghari in August, a source close to Britney told Page Six that she was gearing up for a new release, ahead of her memoir. “She has an upcoming writers camp and is getting songs from some big artists,” they said. “Ideally, she would love to do a record and maybe a song for the book release.”

More recently, it was reported that Britney had recruited critically acclaimed stars like Charli XCX and Julia Michaels for the new record by The Sun.

Britney Spears Says She’ll ‘Never Return to the Music Industry’

Following some of the reports, Britney denied the rumors that she was working with anyone on a new record. “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash !!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry,” she wrote on Instagram.

She continued and claimed to have written songs for others. She said that she prefers anonymously writing songs. “When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!! For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way,” she said.

In The Woman In MeBritney had said that she wasn’t currently interested in making music. “Pushing forward in my music career is not my focus at the moment,” she said. “It’s time for me not to be someone who other people want; it’s time to actually find myself.”

Following Britney’s post denying that she would return, sources close to her said that her team are trying to get her to record again in a report from Rolling Stone. “Right now, management and A&R are trying to get her excited for the music,” the insider said. “The hype around this is that everyone wants her to make music again, but I don’t know if she’s there yet.”

The source said that everything is still up in the air as of now. “As of right now, she’s not actively in recording but they’re getting [songs] done to present to her,” the source said. “Nothing is cemented or in stone.”
