Like most blockbusters nowadays, fans have to stick around as the credits roll to see if there’s a post-credits scene. Fast X’s sole post-credits scene after that shocking ending did not disappoint in the slightest and set up a sure-to-be epic reunion in Fast 11. Let’s break down what exactly happened in the Fast X post-credits scene.

A batch of armed officers covered in tactical gear swarms a huge mansion. One of these officers heads into a room alone where a phone begins to ring. The officer picks up the phone, and Dante Reyes is on the other line. Turns out, Dante wants more than revenge against Dom. He wants to take down Agent Luke Hobbs, too.

While Dom and Brian helped take down Dante’s father, Hernan Reyes, it was Hobbs who actually killed him. Dante vows to make Hobbs suffer just like he did with Dom. As we see in Fast X, Dante means what he says. “The devil is coming for you,” Dante promises. Suddenly, Hobbs crushes the phone.

Hobbs’ appearance in the Fast X post-credits scene confirms that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will return in Fast 11. This is a major shift from what Dwayne had previously said about his future with the Fast franchise.

Dwayne appeared in 4 Fast & Furious movies, as well as the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, before exiting the franchise amid a feud with Fast vet Vin Diesel.

Back in November 2021, Vin reached out to Dwayne on Instagram and asked him to return for Fast X. “My little brother Dwayne… the time has come, Vin began. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”

A month later, Dwayne responded to Vin’s message and shut down any hope at the time that he’d return to the Fast franchise. “This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly — and privately — that I would not be returning to the franchise,” the actor told CNN. “I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with my partners at Universal as well, all of whom were very supportive as they understand the problem.”

Time appears to have healed all wounds, and now the Fast family is stronger than ever. Hobbs and Dom (if he makes it out of Fast X unscathed) will have to work together to take down Dante once and for all. Fast 11 is expected to be released in 2025.
