Bio:
Jeb Bush (born John Ellis Bush on February 11, 1953 in Midland, Texas) is an American politician. Jeb grew up with his family in Houston. Much like his father, George H. W. Bush, and brother, George W. Bush, Jeb attended the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. As a teen, Jeb taught English as a second language in Mexico as part of the student exchange program. While in Mexico, Jeb met his future wife, Columbia Garnica de Gallo. Jeb attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Latin American studies. After school, Jeb went to work at the Texas Commerce Bank. After the 1980 election, Jeb and his family moved to Miami-Dade County in Florida. He went into real estate and made a fortune in housing development. Jeb volunteered for his father’s 1980 and 1988 campaigns. He began his own political career as the Chairman of the Dade County Republican Party. In thanks for helping elect Bob Martinez to Governor, Bob appointed Jeb as Florida’s Secretary of Commerce. Jeb unsuccessfully ran for the Governor in 1994, but secured the position in 1998. He was reelected in 2002. After serving two terms, the limit for Florida, Jeb stepped down in 2007 and he served on the National Assessment Governing Board, focusing on education monitoring. Later that year, he left the board to join Tenet Healthcare’s boards of directors and was an adviser to Lehman Brothers. A rumored candidate for the 2016 Presidential Election, Jeb formally announced his campaign in June 2015. He suspended his campaign in Feb. 2015 after losing the South Carolina primary.

Personal Life:
Jeb is fluent in Spanish. He and his wife, Columba, married on February 1974. They have three children: George Prescott, Noelle Lucila and John Ellis, Jr.. Jeb is involved with the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and the Annual AT&T Jeb Bush Florida Golf Classic, which raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
