Elizabeth Smart (born Elizabeth Ann Smart in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 3, 1987) is Mormon, an activist and musician, and survived a horrifying kidnapping in 2002 when she was 14-years-old.

Best Known For:
Elizabeth Smart is best known for being abducted from her home by Brian David Mitchell in 2002 and being found in 2003. She was raped and tied up on a daily basis during her captivity. She wrote a memoir, My Story, to inspire and help others.

Elizabeth Smart is now married to husband Matthew Gilmour and finished a music degree at Brigham Young University.

Elizabeth Smart stormed out of the court room yesterday after an expert witness said that she had allegedly picked out a baby name just in case she got pregnant during her nine months of captivity.
Elizabeth Smart stormed out of a court hearing for her abductor, Brian David Mitchell, yesterday (Dec. 1) in Salt Lake City, UT, after a witness for the defense testified that she had chosen a baby name, thinking she would get pregnant sometime during her captivity after she was kidnapped from her home at the age of 14 in 2002. Elizabeth became visibly upset after Dr. Paul Whitehead, the clinical director of the forensic unit at Utah State Hospital, brought up information he had gathered from Mitchell’s wife Wanda Barzee’s journal and various police reports — some of it detailing Mitchell’s desire for Elizabeth to become pregnant. “Mitchell was talking to Miss Smart about having babies to the point that Smart actually picked out a name if that happened,” Whitehead testified. It was then that Elizabeth reportedly shot him a cold glare and stormed out of the court room, followed by her mother Lois Smart. How awful!
