After nearly six years together, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are officially married. The longtime lovers tied the knot on Saturday, July 3 according to Page Six in a wedding officiated by close friend Carson Daly. As Gwen teased earlier this year, it was a fairly intimate affair. Photos show white tents and tables set up outdoors on his 1,500 acre Oklahoma ranch. The ceremony took place at the chapel Shelton built on-site, which is also the spot where Blake proposed!
In a video posted by the outlet, guests dressed in white dresses and suits could also be seen approaching the property — including her parents Patti Flynn and Dennis Stefani. Aerial photos of the ranch also revealed a large new house built by Blake on the property! The stately looking home included a large driveway and white pillars in front of the door and walkway. Notably, the nuptials came just days after the couple filed for a marriage license in Oklahoma on June 29. Per state law, couples must marry within 10 days of filing (Gwen and Blake wed within 5).
The couple looked so in love as they shared their first dance in video obtained by TMZ, choosing Peter Gabriel‘s “In Your Eyes” for the romantic moment. Gwen wore a gorgeous white tulle dress and veil designed by Vera Wang for the intimate affair, which can be seen in the video below. Her Rob Zangardi stylist also posted another photo that revealed she had the names of her kids Kingston, 15, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 7, sewn into the veil — see the black-and-white pic here. Gwen also honored her parents at the wedding by replicating their wedding cake for the big day.
It was no surprise that Carson officiated given his close connection to the pair from The Voice. Carson has hosted the series since it began back in 2011, and Gwen and Blake have both served as judges (Gwen was sporadically appeared since season seven, but was full time for five seasons, while Blake is the only judge to have appeared on all 21). “He’s become one of the closest people in my life, to be honest with you,” Carson said at the show’s 10 year anniversary, per TODAY.
“We’re very close, which is ironic because I — obviously, you know, I’m a producer on the show, I’m involved in recruiting coaches. I’ve talked some people into doing the show. And he was the person I knew the least. And so it’s just ironic that 10 years later, he’s the one that I’m definitely closest with. Our families vacation together at this point, and so I’m very grateful,” the TRL alum explained. “Aside from what the show, from an employment standpoint, has done for me and my family, you know, my friendship with Blake is probably the next best thing I’ve yielded by being on the show,” Carson also said.
This is the third marriage for Blake and the second for Gwen. The country singer’s first wife was Kaynette Gern, who he married in 2003. However, they split just three years later. After the breakup, Blake started dating Miranda Lambert, who he met at an event in 2005. The two got engaged In May 2010 and married one year later. However, they shocked fans when they announced that they were divorcing during the summer of 2015.
Gwen was actually dealing with marriage issues right around that same time. She met her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, in 1995, and they wed in 2002. Throughout their marriage, Gwen and Gavin had three sons — Kingston, born in May 2006, Zuma, born in August 2008, and Apollo, born in Feb. 2014. Gwen and Gavin announced they were splitting in August 2015. Gavin was not in attendance of the wedding, and was seen walking his dog Chewy in Los Angeles just the day prior. Sources told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that “don’t have a relationship except for the kids” and “communicate as minimal as possible.” They added that Gavin wasn’t “phased” by Gwen’s second marriage and there was “zero surprise” about him not being included.
During the fall of 2015, Blake and Gwen were both coaches on The Voice. It was her second time at the show, but they admittedly hadn’t gotten to know each other well during her first go-around. This time, though, they were both dealing with the aftermath of painful, public divorces, and they leaned on each other. They went public with the relationship in November 2015, and have been happily together ever since.
Blake finally proposed to Gwen in Oct. 2020 after five years of dating. The proposal happened in Oklahoma, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, so the lovebirds were unsure how soon they’d be able to have their dream wedding with those closest to them in attendance. Luckily, the country was in a much better state months later, and Blake and Gwen are now officially married!
As for what the future holds — we may be seeing less and less of these two in the public eye sooner than later. “I hope that’s not too far down the road,” Blake admitted in March. “Ten years sounds like way too long to me. I’d like to see that sooner than later. We’ve both pretty much taken it to the limit as far as our careers go. It’s been fortunate to accomplish a lot of things, but hopefully at some point, we’ll get to live some life. And I think we’re both ready for that, honestly.”
