We cannot wait to see Busy Philipps, Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Paula Pell sing their hearts out in the upcoming Peacock show Girls5Eva, created by none other than Tina Fey. The show, which follows the present day lives of a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 1990s whose song gets revived by a rapper, is currently preparing for a 2021 release. In speaking to HollywoodLife about her partnership with Scotch-Brite, Busy admitted this was the “greatest job” she’s “ever had” in her career!
“I’m sorry to all the other jobs that I’ve previously I’ve ever had!” she laughed. “It really is a dream. I’m working with the most amazing women. I’m just thrilled. We are having the greatest time.” Busy added that she’s “living out her fantasy of of being in a ’90s girl group.” At the same time, she is also playing her character Summer in present day, when she’s a housewife. “I have just been thrilled by the challenge of it and it’s been super fun!”
Busy also teased that the songs from Girls5Eva, written by Jeff Richmond (Mean Girls: The Musical), are absolute jams! “All of them are so insane and hilarious but also like, really good bangers!” she laughed. “When I tell you that some of these songs are so catchy and ridiculous, you’re going to love them.”
