John, who sported a black, long-sleeve shirt, gave Ben the biggest birthday hug as the youngster, whom John shared with his late wife, Kelly Preston, sat on his lap. Ben looked so incredibly grown up as he smiled while he and his dad embraced. “Happy 10th birthday my wonderful Ben! I love you,” John captioned the photo. The actor’s post received a ton of love from followers and fans, who were all so glad to see John in happy spirits since the loss of his beloved wife.

John and Ben celebrated the youngster’s first birthday without wife and mom Kelly by their side. The stunning actress, known best for her roles in films like Jerry MaguireCitizen Ruth, and From Dusk Till Dawn, passed away at the age of 57 in July 2020. Kelly battled breast cancer for two years prior to her passing, and her dear husband, to whom she’d been married for nearly 30 years, confirmed the tragic news in a statement on Instagram.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” he shared in his July 13 post. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many…Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered,” he continued. “I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”

John and Kelly wed in 1991 and welcomed three children throughout their marriage. Their son Jett, born in 1992, sadly passed away in 2009 after suffering a seizure while the family was in the Bahamas for the holidays. They also had daughter Ella Bleu, 20, and their youngest, Ben, whom John dedicated his recent Instagram post to.
