After nearly four decades together, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell still manage to have “firsts” in their relationship! The couple stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 23 to promote their upcoming holiday picture The Christmas Chronicles 2. During their joint interview, Kurt, 69, marveled at how they “haven’t done very many [interviews] together.”
“We were talking about this the other day. So this is looking like a first Ellen [DeGeneres], heads up,” Kurt continued. Goldie, looking stunning in a black floral ensemble, chimed in, “My god, we can still have firsts after 38 years!” Ellen’s audience burst into laughter at Goldie’s observation. But as the interview progressed, the Oscar-winner, 75, got incredibly sentimental about her longtime love affair with Kurt, and shared what drew her to him all of those decades ago.

At the time, Goldie was a young mother to her son Oliver Hudson, 44, and daughter Kate Hudson, 41, whom she shared with ex-husband Bill Hudson. Getting together had a few more obstacles for the two, unfortunately. “I did have a boyfriend at the time,” Goldie confessed. “That was hard, because I had to call him and tell him that we were done and that I had found somebody and that I was so sorry.”

Over the course of their careers, Goldie and Kurt have starred in a number of films together. Their most notable collaboration came in 1987 with the romantic comedy Overboard. Over 30 years later, they starred in the 2018 film The Christmas Chronicles and will reprise their roles as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the 2020 sequel, which debuts tomorrow, November 25!
