Megan Thee Stallion took over the American Music Awards on Sunday night with a sultry performance of “Body.” The hitmaker, 26, who was recently named “Rapper of the Year” by GQ, opened her first live performance of the song with a powerful message about body positivity.

“My body is mine and nobody owns it but me,” she said after naming individual parts of her body that she loves from her dimples to her toes. Megan continued, “You may not think my body is perfect and it probably never will be, but when I look in the mirror I love what I see.” — And, so do we!
Megan highlighted her amazing curves in a black mesh bodysuit that bared her toned tummy and booty. She kicked off her performance with a sultry stroll down a set of stairs, before she rapped and twerked at the speed of lightening. Meg stomped around stage in a pair of black hightop sneakers. Her eyes sparkled with blue shadow as her long, brunette hair laid straight down her back.
The performance marks her first at the AMAs, and her second stage appearance since she was injured in a shooting in July. At the time, fellow rapper Tory Lanez was riding in a vehicle with Megan in the Hollywood Hills when he allegedly shot her in both feet. In early October, Lanez was charged with assault by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. Meanwhile, Megan seemed to address the incident on her new song “Shots Fired.”
It’s a big night for Hot Girl Meg, as she’s up for five AMA awards, making her the most-nominated female artist for 2020. She’s recognized across categories such as New Artist of the Year and Collaboration of the Year. In fact, Megan is nominated twice for Collaboration of the Year for “WAP,” her No 1. hit with Cardi B, as well as her “Savage Remix” with Beyonce. Later in the night, Meg changed into a plunging neon green mini dress (below!) for a funny skit with tonight’s host, Taraji P. Henson.

Megan’s performance comes just two days after the release of her first studio album Good News, which includes the aforementioned songs, “Body” and “Shots Fired.” The album has a bunch of star-studded features by Big Sean, SZA, Da Baby, City Girlz, 2 Chainz, Yung Thug and more. Megan hit the AMAs stage fresh off the debut of her sexy “Body” music video, which stars tonight’s emcee.
