Abby Wambach, 36, is revealing some very intimate details about how her life has been recently, and unfortunately one of those details includes splitting from her wife. Abby has confirmed that she is divorcing from her wife, Sarah Huffman, just three years after they were married.
The revelation comes just as Abby’s new memoir, Forward, which is set to release on Tuesday, September 13. Sadly, the memoir goes over the details of Abby and Sarah’s struggle as the beloved soccer player was dealing with other issues — including abusing alcohol and prescription drugs for years, reports the Associated Press. According to the report, it was Abby’s arrest in April 2016 for a DUI that finally forced her to put her life back together.

Abby’s romance with her wife, Sarah, made headlines in 2015 when they shared an epic kiss after Abby and Team USA won the Women’s World Cup. The picture of Sarah hanging down over the divider to kiss Abby went viral almost instantly, with America in awe at how sweet the two were together. Sadly, that romance seems to have fizzled out.
In Forward, Abby chronicles her drug and alcohol use, citing vodka, Vicodin, Ambien and Adderall as some of the things she abused over the years. Abby claims that she’s been sober ever since her arrest, and that she plans to stay that way as she moves on with her life.
