It has been determined on August 29, one day after his death, that Juan Gabriel died due to a combination of heart issues and complications of diabetes. It is unclear what type (1 or 2) of diabetes Juan had been suffering from. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has officially ruled Juan’s death a result of natural causes, but did not specify what heart or diabetes issues Juan experienced to lead to his death.
The legendary Mexican singer, known for his soaring ballads and sweet love songs, was found dead in his Santa Monica, California home on the morning of August 28. He was only 66 years old. The singer was in the middle of his “MeXXico Es Todo Tour,” and had just performed a sold-out show at The Forum Los Angeles two days prior to his death, on August 26. He was set to perform in El Paso, Texas, the same day that he died.
Juan’s career spanned 40 years, and spawned countless hits. He holds the distinction of having the best-selling album of all time in Mexico, Recuerdos, Vol. II, which sold more than 8 million copies.
