“Fin de Año 2016 Fiesta Wild Wild West!!” Elsa wrote when she posted a picture of her, Chris and other friends in mock face paint and Native American style headgear to her Instagram. “Feliz Año a todos!!NYE 2016 Wild Wild West Party!! Happy New Year everyone !!” Most of the guests in the picture were dressed like Native Americans while not appearing to actually be Native American.
Caucasian-looking Australians dressing up as Native Americans in a picture posted to the Internet? That’s a recipe for disaster. One user, bourbonandbabyblues, wrote “This is so disappointing to see. Native Americans are real, their culture is real, and they most certainly not a f*cking costume.” Dang! Another decided to play a game, writing “Spot the #culturallyinappropriate”
While Chris and Elsa didn’t mean any offense, fans pointed out that they were perpetuating stereotypes about America’s indigenous people and that turning their culture and ceremonial outfits into costumes is kind of a jerk move. One fan on Twitter said it was just “not cool,” while another expressed disappointment in her favorite Hollywood hunk. Yikes. Chris may be worthy to wield Thor’s hammer, but he may need to leave the party planning up to someone else.
Chris Hemsworth dressed up as an Native American for a New Year's party. Not cool.

The last time Chris posted a shocking picture, he was barely wearing anything at all. In fact, the clothes couldn’t stay on him from all the weight he had lost! Chris had shed his beefcake bod for one that looked malnourished in order to play Owen Chase in the film, In The Heart Of The Sea. Owen was a real-life castaway who barely survived being lost at sea. In order to look the part, Chris reduced his calorie intake to just 500 a day. He was barely recognizable at the end!
What do you think about Chris and Elsa’s party picture, HollywoodLifers? Do you think they should offer an apology?
