The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star put out an apology via her Instagram on Nov. 2, stating “If I hurt you, (sorry said with a heart emoji). We were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry.”
The couple raised plenty of eyebrows at George Clooney‘s Oct. 30 Casamigos party in Los Angeles. Dressed as the late Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, Harry and Lisa were practically a spitting image of the couple. They were modeled after an old photograph of the couple where Sid was wearing a red t-shirt with a swastika emblazoned on it. But Sid wore plenty of offensive t-shirts back in the day, including ones bashing the British monarchy. In this and day and age, Harry should have known how anything involving such a polarizing image could be viewed as deeply offensive.
After photos of the couple surfaced, Twitter outrage ensued with people calling out the Mad Men star for his poor choice in his Sid look. Outside of the offending tee, the couple nailed their costumes with Lisa in a giant blond wig and head to toe black clothes, with leather pants and a jacket. Harry wore a black leather jacket as well, matched with black boots and jeans. He even spiked his hair and had a cigarette dangling out of his mouth to portray the late punk legend. But it was the swastika t-shirt that got the ire of his fans.
HollywoodLifers, were you offended by Harry’s swastika t-shirt?
