One Direction’s ‘Perfect’ Video: 3 New Signs The Song’s Inspired By Taylor Swift

One Direction’s new music video for ‘Perfect’ is EVERYTHING…but did you pick up any of the references to Taylor Swift?! It’s pretty obvious the song was written about the singer’s relationship with 1D’s Harry Styles and the vid has only amped up the speculation!

You can’t get anything past us, One Direction! The guys may have tried to be subtle about their references to Taylor Swift, 25, in the music video for “Perfect,” but we picked up on a few the very first time we watched. Harry Styles, 21, was definitely paying homage to his famous ex with this one! To hear more about Taylor Swift, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

First of all, the scene for the entire video is at a hotel overlooking New York City, and Haylor spent the most-publicized portion of their relationship in the Big Apple. They made headlines on numerous occasions for being seen coming in and out of the same hotel in Manhattan, so the location choice definitely seems calculated here.

We also couldn’t help but notice that right toward the beginning of the music video, Liam Payne, 22, quickly holds up a Polaroid picture. Everybody knows Tay loves her Polaroids — I mean, the cover of her hit album 1989 is a Polaroid pic of herself — and she even sings, “You took a Polaroid of us,” in her song “Out Of The Woods,” a track which is very clearly about her relationship with Harry.

The 21-year-old actually sings the part of “Perfect” that contains the most obvious Taylor reference — “If you like cameras flashing every time you go out and if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about” — and it only makes sense that that portion of the vid focuses directly on him. The scene shows him lying down on a bed with smoke billowing in the background, which is oddly reminiscent of Taylor’s own video for “Style,” another track inspired by the 1D singer.

HollywoodLifers, have we convinced you that this song is totally about the “Shake It Off” singer?
