Dex Osama Dead: Meek Mill Pays Tribute To His Rap Protege – Hollywood Life

Dex Osama Dead: Rapper, 29, Shot Outside Detroit Nightclub — Meek Mill Pays Tribute

Such sad news. Up-and-coming rapper Dex Osama, who just signed a recording deal with Meek Mill, was shot and killed outside a strip club in Detroit on Sept. 7. See Meek's touching Instagram tribute here. Dex Osama was shot twice outside a Detroit club on Sept. 7, sadly resulting in his death at a nearby gas station. The young rapper was just 29 years old, and was just beginning to garner a huge following thanks to a recording contract with Nicki Minaj's fiancé, Meek Mill, at the time of his death.

The “Clean Up Man” singer was leaving Crazy Horse gentleman’s club in the early hours of Labor Day morning, but a shooter was reportedly waiting outside for him, the club owner told Local 4 Detroit. Dex was shot while walking down the street, once in the chest, and once in the stomach, and ran to a nearby gas station to get help.

“So I’m sitting there applying pressure, and he’s talking to me,” Jay Sareini, who was at the gas station and tried to save the victim, revealed. “He’s alive, he’s talking to me. ‘Please don’t let me die, please don’t let me,’ grabbing on to me.” Sadly, there wasn’t enough Jay could do before help arrived, and Dex died soon after.

Just shortly before his death, Dex had signed a contract to work with Meek, and, according to producer Parellee, Meek’s goal was to not only help Dex in the music biz, but also in ‘hopefully getting him off these streets.’ Nicki’s man — whose album you can buy here —  took to Instagram to remember his young protege, and shared a touching message along with a photo of the two of them.

“Damn RIP YOUNGIN…. Had a lot of talks with you about getting out them streets and chasing ya dreams! I really believed in you and seen you putting on for Detroit! RIP @dex_osama. For all my fellow young kings coming up tryna make it out, take ya time and think about where you want ya life to go! MAY GOD BLESS HIS SOUL! Never let them shatter ya dreams!!!”
