‘The View’ Cancelled? — The Truth Behind The Show Ending After Hosts Depart

Mornings just wouldn’t be the same without our favorite female co-hosts. So is ABC considering canceling The View?

“Absolutely not an option at this time,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Advertising money and respect for Barbara Walters would not have this happen any time soon. The View is an institution and they will retool it and come back stronger then ever.”

What a relief!

And one other thing is certain, too — co-host Whoopi Goldberg is definitely not losing her spot at the table!

“Whoopi is the anchor of the show and she is going to be around for quite a while,” our source promises. “Whoopi isn’t going anywhere!”

Jenny McCarthy & Sherri Shepherd Leaving ‘The View’

TMZ reported on June 26 that Sherri — and most likely Jenny — were fired from The View.

“There was a meeting at ABC late Thursday [June 26] afternoon and they announced Sherri Shepherd was out,” sources told the site. “We’ve also heard but have not confirmed Jenny McCarthy and executive producer Bill Geddie may be gone too,” TMZ reported.

Showrunners have’t chosen replacements for Sherri and Jenny but Ross Mathews and Jesse Palmer have been named as potential candidates, according to TMZ, and a source has told HollywoodLife.com that Bachelorette Andi Dorfman is also up for consideration.

A rep for Sherri said in a statement to our sister site Deadline:

It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans for supporting me on this journey.

Jenny also spoke out about her sudden exit from the show in a series of tweets on June 26:

So what do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are YOU relieved that The View isn’t getting canceled? Who do YOU think should replace Sherri and Jenny? Let us know!
