After holding Jaycee captive for 18 years, the couple deserves every second that they spend in jail.
Phillip Garrido received a sentence of 431 years to life in prison, while his wife Nancy Garrido got 36 years to life after pleading guilty to kidnapping and sexual assault. The couple’s case has been in the middle of a media frenzy since the Jaycee Dugard‘s 2009 rescue at the age of 29.
Experts explain that feelings of guilt and pressure are keeping Carlina from bonding with her birth mom, Joy White.
So sad. As if waiting 23 years to be reunited with your kidnapped child isn’t hard enough, now Joy White is saying that her biological daughter Carlina White, who goes by Nejdra Nance, is estranged once again. On this morning’s Today, a teary-eyed Joy confessed that Carlina is no longer involved in her life. “It’s been pretty tough,” says Joy. “I wanted to have a relationship with my daughter.”
The woman who stole a newborn from Harlem Hospital in 1987 finally confesses to the crime.
Ann Pettway, 44, admitted her crime to police today (Jan. 24). She confessed to giving Carlina White a new name and raising her as her own in Connecticut. She allegedly kidnapped the then three-week-old child while posing as a nurse at the Harlem Hospital in New York City. The snatcher is due to receive federal kidnapping charges after she turned herself in to the FBI on Sunday (Jan. 23).
Nancy and Philip Garrido were indicted by a grand jury this week for the kidnapping and rape of Jaycee Dugard. In a truly disturbing twist, Nancy’s attorney admits that the woman — who helped her husband keep Jaycee a prisoner for 18 years — is devastated because Jaycee and her daughters haven’t visited her in prison.
HollyMoms, brace yourself for an extremely disturbing update on Phillip and Nancy Garrido. You’ll remember them as the couple that allegedly held Jaycee Dugard prisoner in their Antioch, Calif., backyard for 18 years before authorities discovered and rescued her in August 2009. Now a grand jury has indicted the couple on kidnapping and rape charges. That’s the good news. The disgusting part is that Nancy’s been crying her eyes out over the fact that neither Jaycee nor her two daughters (who were fathered by Nancy’s husband, Philip, a registered sex offender) have come to visit her in jail, according to her attorney Stephen Tapson. “They’re running out my Kleenex budget. She wants to see the kids and Jaycee,” reveals Tapson.
If you think your pal is getting too wrapped up in her relationship, like Brittany Murphy did with Simon Monjack, here’s how to set her free!
If you’ve ever noticed a good girl friend going down a bad path by alienating everyone around her, like Brittany Murphy may have done, then please, act now! Nip it in the bud! Our expert, psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman, M.D., fills us in on how to help your bestie break free.
“Brittany Murphy’s tragic death is a reminder of what can happen, and too often does, when a bad boy ostracizes a woman from her friends,” says Dr. Lieberman, who notes, “All one has to do is trace photos and interviews of Brittany throughout the past years to see how she became a shadow of her former vivacious, adorable self and changed into an emaciated, depressed, broken woman. She reportedly even had a ‘pharmacy’ of prescription medications and had complained of physical symptoms for over a week, yet her husband seemingly did nothing to get her medical attention that could have saved her life.”
Bottom line, ladies: don’t let your friend alienate you. She may not know it, but she needs you more than she can say.
