Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart shared nearly two decades of marriage, family life and public moments together. The couple, who married in 2004, were proud parents to daughters Billie and Georgia, and despite ups and downs in their relationship, they remained deeply connected through their shared devotion to their children.

In 2018, Rebecca filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” but the case remained unresolved. In 2025, she formally dismissed the petition and stood by Eric’s side after he revealed he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. Over the following months, Dane spoke candidly about his health battle and the importance of family as his condition advanced.

Eric Dane died on February 19, 2026, at age 53. His family shared that he was surrounded by loved ones in his final days. In the wake of his passing, tributes poured in celebrating not only his acting legacy — including his beloved role on Grey’s Anatomy — but also his dedication as a father and partner.
