Jennifer is best known as a singer and actress. She first stepped into the spotlight in 2004 when she competed on the singing competition show ‘American Idol’ and became a finalist in its third season. Her success on the show led her to take advantage of many incredible opportunities, including tremendous critically-acclaimed acting roles.

Her acting debut was as Effie White in the 2006 film ‘Dreamgirls’. She went on to win an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award in the best supporting actress categories for the role.

She also made her mark in the film world in other features such as ‘Sex and the City’ and has starred in various television series, including ‘Empire’ and ‘Confirmation’. Jennifer also impressed with her role as Shug Avery in ‘The Color Purple’.
