Russian-born actor Anton Yelchin poses during a photocall for the movie ‘Burying the Ex’ during the 71st Annual Venice International Film Festival in Venice, Italy in 2014.
Anton was born to Russian figure skaters Irina and Viktor Yelchin in 1989 and moved to the United States with them when he was just six-months-old. He began acting at a young age in the late 1990s and had a breakthrough role in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Taken’ in 2002 before going on to star in other films and television shows, including ‘Fierce People’ in 2005, ‘Huff’ from 2004-2006, and perhaps what he was most known for, the ‘Star Trek’ films directed by J.J. Abrams in 2009 and 2013. He also appeared in the 2016 film ‘Star Trek Beyond’ directed by Justin Lin, which was released after his death.
Anton passed away at the age of 27 in 2016 in a tragic accident in which his jeep pinned him against the security gate to his home after he mistakingly put it in neutral instead of park in the driveway.
