Everyone and their mother is now asking one question amid the 2024 Paris Olympics: Who is Thomas Ceccon? Countless social media users are asking about his personal life now that many have expressed their undying crush on him.

From a TikTok user joking they’d “swipe right” on Thomas, to an X user tweeting, “Thomas Ceccon is the best thing that ever happened in the olympics fr,” it’s clear that viewers can’t get enough of the competitive swimmer — especially after he flashed his lower abs while winning bronze with his team.

Thomas Holds a Swimming World Record

The athlete currently holds the world record in the long course 100-meter backstroke in addition to the short course 4×100-meter freestyle relay. On a national level, Thomas holds the Italian record for long course 50-meter backstroke and the 50-meter butterfly.

He’s Competed in Two Olympics

The first Olympic Games that Thomas competed in was the 2020 Tokyo Games. The Thiene, Italy, native won a silver medal in the men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay.

At the Paris Olympics in 2024, Thomas won gold for the men’s 100-meter backstroke.

Previously, Thomas spoke with Italian outlet Rai Italia about his journey to the Olympics, revealing that he had dreamt of this achievement since he was a teenager.

“As a kid, at 15, the coach asked me, ‘What is your dream?’ I answered, ‘To win the Olympics,'” Thomas said during the interview, which was translated from Italian to English. “And then he said, ‘Calm down.’ [But] it’s always been my dream.”

As for how it felt to win the Olympic Games, Thomas noted, “Winning here isn’t like at the World Championships, it’s a race that happens every four years. I went strong and tried to hold on until the end. And in the end, I was exhausted.”

Thomas’ Nickname Is ‘the Shark’

According to Il Messaggero, Thomas has been called “the shark” in the Olympic sport.

He Was Almost a Tennis Player

According to a past interview with World Aquatics, Thomas once considered becoming a professional tennis player Nathan than a swimmer.

“Honestly, I used to play tennis and swimming at the same time,” he explained, which was translated from Italian to English. “I obviously, I liked doing both, especially with my brother. However … I had to choose what to do, swimming or tennis, but ultimately, I’ve always liked swimming. I have always enjoyed staying in the water with my brother. So finally my parents chose I should continue swimming.”

Although the world is asking what his relationship status is, Thomas’ personal life has not taken center stage like his swimming career has.
