After she broke things off with the Cha Cha Matcha founder Matthew Morton in December, Sofia Richie appears to have a new man! The OVO model, 22, was spotted getting cozy with Gil Ofer while on the beach in Miami on Sunday, January 31. The PDA day, which included a few unnamed friends, marks the first time the two were photographed together. Now, fans are wondering what Sofia’s new flame is all about. SO, who is Gil Ofer? — HollywoodLife has 5 key things to know about him:
1. Gil Ofer is the son of Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer.
Gil and Sofia have a few obvious things in common. Their fathers are both prominent famous figures. While the model’s dad, Lionel Richie, is a legendary singer, Gil’s father is the 494th richest person in the world, according to Forbes. He has a heavy footprint in the shipping, drilling and mining business and a net worth of $5.3 billion. Idan is the founder of Tanker Pacific — which is now considered the largest privately owned tanking fleet globally — as well as the principal of the Quantum Pacific Group, a holding company. Additionally, he is majority shareholder of the Israel Corporation, as well as Kenon Holdings. Adding to his already illustrious resume, Idan has ownership in two sports clubs. He owns an 85% stake in Portuguese second league football club FC Famalicão and a 32% stake in Spanish football club Atlético Madrid. In 2013, Idan was named the richest man in Israel.
2. Gil is a Harvard graduate.
He attended Harvard University from 2013-2017, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a minor in sociology, according to his LinkedIn profile.
3. He’s studying for his master’s degree.
Gil is currently studying for a Master of Business Administration degree at London Business School, according to LinkedIn. He’s been studying there since August of 2020, and London seems to be his primary residence.
4. Gil’s social media presence is minimal.
The business student seems to live somewhat of a private life. His presumed personal Instagram account is private, though the profile photo indicates that he’s a sports fan — like his dad. “Looking forward to the memories of right now,” the bio reads.
5. He runs a tech start-up.
Gil is already making business moves, despite still being in school. He runs an EPS tech start-up project, which he has big plans for in 2021. In December, Trade Winds, reported that the start-up revealed an impressive line-up for its second year in business. The outlet described the startup as a maritime accelerator scheme that involves companies trying to launch robotics, AI and machine vision businesses.
