Teagan was once told she would have to give up dancing.

When Teagan was 15, she began noticing pain in her leg after practicing one of her tricks. “It turned out to be a lesion and the doctor said for it to break down and heal, I was going to have to stop dancing completely because dancing would put too much pressure on the lesion,” Teagan said in her book Twinning It!, according to The New Zealand Herald.

Teagan was “devastated,” but she ended up getting a second opinion from a doctor who told her she didn’t have to give up performing for good. She was eventually diagnosed with an aneurysmal bone cyst and had surgery to remove it. “This was a scary time in my life. I got upset and frustrated, but I also worked hard to catch up and be an even better dancer than I was before,” she said.
