With a postponed wedding and no clear date in sight, Andy Cohen was curious if Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez ever just considered canning the wedding plans altogether and pulling “a Goldie [Hawn] and Kurt [Russell] thing.” The celebrity couple is famous for never tying the knot despite being together since 1983, a decision that Goldie recently even defended. Like Goldie and Kurt, J.Lo admitted that she and A-Rod have have also considered opting out of marriage while appearing on the Dec. 21 episode of SiriusXM’s Radio Andy.

“Oh yeah we’ve talked about that for sure. I mean at our age, we’ve both been married before, it’s like, do we get married? Do we not? What does it mean for us?,” J.Lo admitted to Andy. “And it’s just, it comes down to like personal, like, what do you want to do? There’s definitely no rush though.” J.Lo and A-Rod would have been married already, though, if it weren’t for a worldwide pandemic that effectively shut down the world in March.

“It was really sad because we were supposed to get married in June and we had planned at all,” J.Lo revealed. “So in March or April, we’re looking down the pipe and we’re going, ‘This is maybe not going to happen.’ Italy’s the worst place in the world. And we were going to get married in Italy. It was, yeah, it was like, I was like, ‘okay, we got to cancel everything.’ And we just started kind of like, and we had to put out all this money and all this stuff, we were like, we gotta cancel it. So we, we canceled it.”

J.Lo found that it was “still not the right time” to exchange vows when they tried “to regroup for later in the year,” as in “a few months ago.” That meant a 2020 wedding was just not a reality for J.Lo and A-Rod, which the bride-to-be admitted was “a little disappointing.” However, she has been given a new perspective on the wedding, which she explained by also looking at Goldie and Kurt’s relationship.

“You just think to yourself, ‘Well, things will happen in their divine time in a way’,” J.Lo said, adding, “But the same thing with like the Goldie thing and Kurt, you think, ‘Do you have to, should we?’ It just kind of gave us a moment to pause and think about it.” For now, though, the nuptials remains at a standstill as J.Lo concluded, “And I think it’s something that maybe is still important to us, but there’s no rush, you know, there’s no rush it’ll happen when it happens.”

In October, J.Lo was “so looking forward to getting married” and was “going to go full force on a wedding” once the pandemic ended, which a source close to the singer and actress EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife towards the end of October. It has now been more than a year and a half since A-Rod got down on one knee and proposed to J.Lo on the beach in March of 2019. Like J.Lo said in her interview with Andy, both she and A-Rod were previously married to different partners (J.Lo split from Marc Anthony in 2011, while A-Rod divorced from Cynthia Scurtis in 2008). J.Lo and A-Rod began publicly dating one another in 2017, and have been taking their relationship nice and slow ever since.
