Like how there’s always football on Thanksgiving, Christmas day brings basketball. Days after the COVID-19-affected 2020-21 NBA Season tips off, Tristan Thompson will suit up in festive green and white and join his new squad, the Boston Celtics, in a home game against the Brooklyn Nets. It will be Tristan’s first Christmas in Beantown, and a source close to the NBA player tells HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that he hopes he’s not spending it alone. “Tristan would love Khloe [Kardashian] and True [Thompson] to be in town for his first game on Christmas but understands if they stay put in LA.”
“If Khloe and True don’t join, then he will make sure to make some special time to have Christmas with them on another day,” the insider tells HollywoodLife. Assuming there aren’t any travel restrictions due to a surge in COVID-19, Khloe could fly to Boston with True to spend Christmas morning with Tristan. The Celtics don’t play until 5 P.M. Eastern, which means it’s possible the three could have a Christmas before Tristan has to suit up to play. However, if this doesn’t work out, the source says that “they all understand the situation and aren’t making any drama out of it.”
After nine years with the Cleveland Cavaliers – including the 2016 Championship season – Tristan signed a two-year deal with Boston for a reported $19 million in November. With such a paycheck, Tristan knows he “must come in and impress,” per the source, and the Christmas game will be only his second outing in the green and white. Boston takes on the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 23, two days before welcoming the Brooklyn team to the TD Garden arena.
In the past, Khloe has left Calabasas to spend the holidays with Tristan. In 2018, she flew True, then just eight-months-old, out to Cleveland to spend the holidays with Tristan. Shortly thereafter, his cheating scandal with Jordyn Woods broke and it seemed like Khloe was destined for a “Blue Christmas.” Except – she and Tristan reunited at the Kardashian family Christmas Eve party. Since then, Tristan has been working on getting back in Khloe’s good graces while helping raise their daughter.
Tristan’s signing with the Celtics was celebrated by the Kardashians. Both Kim Kardashian and Rob Kardashian congratulated Tristan on the new chapter in his career. When he shared a photo of him flying out to Boston, Khloe wished him “luck” by leaving a string of shamrocks and four-leaf clovers in the comment section.
