Taking off all your makeup, or war paint, in front of a guy is a big step — at least it was for me. It’s definitely a clutch for many, many women out there. You don’t have to go completely bare in front of your guy, but you also shouldn’t ruin his pillowcases with smudged mascara. Here’s my advice on what to do.

Bring some makeup removing wipes to take off your makeup. This may sound crazy, but I would use the wipes to take off everything, and then reapply a few key things.

FACE: Tinted moisturizer is a way to hydrate your skin while providing a little bit of coverage — go for the holy grail — Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. You could

EYES: Curling your eyelashes. You don’t need to apply mascara, but simply using an eyelash curler will open up your eyes and make your lashes look flirty.

BROWS: Clear brow gel will ensure hairs look neat and tidy.

LIPS: I don’t recommend any sort of color or sticky lip gloss. Instead, opt for a hydrating balm. Remember, you’ll probably get a good night kiss :)

Don’t go to bed with a full face of makeup, but don’t spend 20 minutes in the bathroom exfoliating, toning, and using different serums. Keep it simple!
