Bernie Sanders, 75, is still open to the idea of a 2020 presidential run. The Virginia Senator, who barely lost the Democratic primary to Hillary Clinton, 69, said he’s “not ruling out anything,” in a phone interview with the Associated Press on Nov. 10. But, don’t get your hopes up just yet. He also noted that, “four years in a long time from now,” adding, “We’ll take one thing at a time.” Many voters have been distraught after Donald Trump‘s shocking victory on Nov. 8, wondering if the results would have been the same if he was competing against Bernie for the Oval Office. However, the independent senator refuses to entertain those theories and wants to keep focused.

Bernie thinks the reason behind the businessman-turned-politician’s election is because of poor Democratic Party leadership which ignored some of the big issues in Midwestern states. He explained to the publication, “It is an embarrassment, I think, to the entire of Democratic Party that millions of white working-class people decided to vote for Mr. Trump, which suggests that the Democratic message of standing up for working people no longer holds much sway among workers in this country.” Millennials strongly believed in Bernie’s hopeful policies for the United States, so we imagine several could still be feeling the Bern in the future!

Like many Americans, Bernie is still getting used to the idea of Donald in the White House, but he’s willing to work together with the president-elect. The Virginia Senator issued a powerful statement on Nov. 9, explaining how he was going to do everything in his power to help the country. But, he also noted how he will fight Donald when needed. “To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.”
