For the first time since pregnancy rumors surrounded Janet Jackson, 50, the singer stepped out on Sept. 27 and proved once and for all that she is indeed pregnant! But her stomach was SO large fans began to speculate that she’s actually carrying twins. And honestly, that makes a whole lot of sense! Janet and her husband Wissam Al Mana, 41, may not just be getting their first child — they may be getting their first CHILDREN!

“Based on Janet’s reported weight gain of 100 lbs, and the possibility that she underwent fertility treatment, it is highly likely that Janet could be carrying twins,” Registered Dietition Lisa DeFazio revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Pretty exciting, right? But at the same time, Janet does need to watch her weight, as a woman carrying twins is only recommended to gain 50-60 lbs.

Her extreme weight gain is only one tell-tale sign that she’s expecting twins though. The fact that Janet reportedly had in vitro fertilization is a HUGE indicator that she could be carrying more than one child. “With IVF, you and your doctor determine how many embryos will be transferred into your uterus,” Lisa explained.
“If you choose to have a single embryo transferred, then it would be impossible for you to have twins or triplets. However, there is no guarantee your embryo will successfully implant into the uterine lining the first time around. This is why many women often opt to have more than one embryo transferred.”
So basically, it’s extremely possible that Janet had multiple embryos implanted, and if more than one of those embryos transferred, then bam, she’s pregnant with multiple babies at once! “Interestingly, the chances of a live birth from multiple embryo transfers increase only slightly compared with a single embryo transfer, although your chances of a multiple birth increase significantly,” Lisa concluded.
Friends of Janet also seem to think she’s carrying twins. “When Janet first spilled she was expecting, the due date was early December, but now we hear she’ll deliver a month earlier, a sure sign of twins!” an insider who’s reportedly close to the star told Star magazine. And Dr. Bruce Lee, M.D. agrees with the possibility.
We are SO excited for Janet and Wissam and cannot wait to meet their little one — or ones — come later this year! As we previously told you, Janet has been primarily on bed rest since postponing her tour in the spring to “plan her family.” And while many speculated that Janet was using a surrogate for her first child, she undoubtedly proved last week that she’s the one carrying the baby/babies!
