Rhett and Link are best friends. They’ve been making successful YouTube videos together for over a decade (racking up a whopping 4.2 million subscribers), but more importantly, they’ve been best friends since 1st grade! Since they’ve been so close for so long, they’ve made some very awkward memories together — like having their first kiss with the same girl!

At the YouTube TCA panel on Aug. 5 in Los Angeles, the duo revealed that when they were younger, they both had their first kiss with a girl named Amber. Not at the same time, of course, but still… what? If you thought that was just a weird thing that sometimes happens with kids who have the same group of friends, you might be shocked to learn they also had the same first girlfriend, who was ANOTHER girl named Leslie. Crazy!

They brought up the story because it actually inspired their new series Rhett and Link’s Buddy System, in which “Rhett & Link must go out of their way to regain control of their internet empire from their mutual co-ex-girlfriend who is now an evil Infomercial Queen holding a very big secret over their heads.” They said that they “combined the two” real girls to inspire the character. So funny!

They showed an exclusive clip at the event, which HollywoodLife.com can tell you featured a desperate moment between the buddies when Rhett reveals to link that he had gone to Space Camp one summer as a kid, and never told him because he didn’t want to hurt his feelings. In a hilarious ceremony, he bestows upon him a wing pin, and it just shows how goofy, fun and emotional the new scripted comedy will be. Plus it will also feature “Saturday Night Live” alums Molly Shannon and Chris Parnell, as well as Leslie Bibb and Page Kennedy. We can’t wait to see it this fall!
