Dave Mirra committed suicide on February 4, 2016, at the young age of 41. An autopsy report revealed that the biker had Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE, a brain disorder which is commonly found in athletes who experience multiple injuries, and he reportedly struggled with sad thoughts before his death. Now Dave’s family told law enforcement that he “suffered from depression and heavy drug abuse before he died,” TMZ is reporting. In the medical examiner’s report the site obtained, it is “confirmed that he shot himself in the head on Feb. 4th with a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver.”
According to the report, there were witnesses that informed police, “Mirra had been hanging out at his friend’s house that day when he walked out and went to his truck. His friends went to search for him and found him dead in his truck in the driveway, with the gun in his right hand.” It also notes that the family stated, “he had been recently suffering from depression and heavy drug abuse.” However, “Mirra did NOT have traces of drugs in his system at the time of his death,” the site mentions from the toxicology report. But, “he did have a small amount of alcohol in his bloodstream.”

The medical report also included a diagram of his body that contained scars from his multiple injuries throughout the years, the site says. “The M.E. noted 5 previous scars on Mirra’s head alone — including 4 to the back of his head.”
Dave left behind his wife, Lauren Mirra and their two children, Mackenzie and Madison Mirra. Fans took to the internet to express their thoughts when he sadly passed, and were shocked to learn he had CTE. Our thoughts are with Dave’s friends and family at this time.
