Chloe Grace Moretz, 19, cut off contact with her father, Dr. McCoy Moretz, when she was twelve years old, as he and her mom Teri Duke-Moretz went through a bitter and painful divorce. Chloe’s dad is now living with Paris Hilton‘s aunt Jo-Ann Hilton, The Daily Mail reports. The site claims that Dr. Moretz left Chloe, her mom Teri Duke-Moretz — who has fought cancer twice — and Chloe’s four older brothers, Brandon, Colin, Trevor and Ethan, “in an episode that Chloe says is the most painful experience of her life and the ‘ultimate betrayal'”, the site discloses. So awful. But a source close to Chloe’s dad tells HollywoodLife.com that he never abandoned his family, and continued to support them even after their split.

Daily Mail adds that Chloe’s dad fought her mother in court for years over their joint fortune until divorcing in April 2016. Meanwhile, Chloe’s plastic surgeon father has been living with Jo-Ann, and the couple has publicly attended events together over the years. A source close to Dr. Moretz says that he didn’t begin dating Jo until well after his divorce from Teri was underway.

Chloe has spoken out about how the ordeal has given her “post-traumatic stress disorder”, and revealed in Glamour magazine’s June issue that she’ll probably never forgive her father for what he did. “I don’t think I will truly find a way to forgive [him]. The things that he did are unforgivable…My forgiveness is that I’m living my life,” she told the mag, maintaining that she tries to stay positive. “It was a pretty bad experience. It could have rocked our family and messed us up, but it actually made us a lot tighter. My brothers bumped up into the roles of fathers and kept me in a bubble where I could live in a world that wasn’t jaded and ruined,” the Neighbors 2 actress added. Stay strong, Chlo!
