On May 18 at the opening of Magnum in New York City, Hailey talked about all the Justin and Selena drama in her life. Does she hate Sel because the Biebs always seems to run back to her? Is she annoyed by Justin because he basically played her with that whole New Year’s Eve kiss a few months ago? “I think it sucks that people try to start things like that. There’s never any truth to that, first of all,” Hailey explained to Us Weekly of the she-hates-Selena rumors. “She’s a lovely girl. She’s very kind. Her and I have a lot of mutual friends and it’s all cool between everybody. We run in the same circles.”
Fans speculated that Selena had an issue with Hailey when Hailey’s relationship with Justin went public in January. Justin and Hailey appeared to split in March, though. That same month, the “Love Yourself” singer said that Hailey was “someone I really love” in his GQ cover story.
“I know that in the past I’ve hurt people and said things that I didn’t mean to make them happy in the moment. So now I’m just more so looking at the future, making sure I’m not damaging them,” he said to the mag. “What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged. It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard. … I just don’t want to hurt her.”
We’re sure Selena’s shaking her head at that one. Why didn’t Justin think that way about her when he started dating her in 2011? Selena eventually broke up with the Biebs in 2014 because he reportedly cheated on her with several other girls. That doesn’t mean they were completely over each other after that, though. Jelena tried to reconcile a few times after their epic split, even being spotted out together and posting pics on social media, but Justin’s infidelity reportedly ruined that again. Even though he tried things out with Hailey, he has obviously still been stuck on Selena. Every once in awhile he’ll post a sexy photo of Sel on his social media, or one of them together, to reminisce about the good ol’ days. Talk about a slap in Hailey’s face!
