Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving got thrust outside the NBA spotlight after his girlfriend Kehlani was allegedly caught in bed with her ex. We all know Kyrie from his mad skills on the court, but what about his personal life? So shocking! Kyrie Irving, 24, and his fans are still reeling from the crazy news that his girlfriend Kehlani, 20, may have cheated on the point guard with her ex, rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR, 22, (aka Jahron Anthony Brathwaite). So other than the fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers star might have a very unfaithful girlfriend, let's get to know five more things about the hoops superstar.

Here are five things to know about Kyrie:

1. Kyrie was born in Australia and holds dual citizenship. 

His dad, Drederick, moved his family Australia to play basketball professionally for the Bulleen Boomers, and the family lived outside Melbourne at the time Kyrie was born. He holds dual U.S./Australian citizenship as a result.

2. Kyrie’s father inspired his passion for basketball.

After the family moved home to West Orange, NJ, Kyrie grew up watching his dad’s adult league games and vowed to one day play in the NBA. His father encouraged all of Kyrie’s hoop dreams and did everything possible for him to succeed greatly in youth and high school basketball leagues.

3. Kyrie bypassed his last three years playing at Duke University to go pro and was the NBA’s top draft pick.

He played at NCAA powerhouse Duke during his freshman year, but suffered a ligament injury in the ninth game of the season. While he came back to help his team in March Madness, the Blue Devils got knocked out in the Sweet Sixteen round. After the season was over, he decided to enter the NBA draft and was selected first by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011.

4. Kyrie won Rookie of the Year honors his first year in the NBA.

For the 2011-2012 season, he was the overwhelming favorite for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, receiving 117 of a possible 120 votes. His season stats were incredible, where he averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 assists and shot 46.9 percent from the field.

5. Kyrie makes millions playing in the NBA.

In the wake of LeBron James‘ 2014 announcement that he’d be returning to Cleveland, the Cavs locked down Kyrie’s talents with a five-year, $90 million contract extension.
